I just realized a couple nights ago that the cut out in the wall of the stairwell is the mirror image of the shape of Nevada!
Yep, been doing some deep thinking alright. =) I think they did it on purpose but Johann says I'm crazy. Why else would it be in such a weird shape, right?
I don't think it's as common as you think. I was just a cheap way (they had to have the post there) to open up the space and create a "bannister" feel. It does look like Nevada but I've definitely seen it before - not trying to burst your bubble!

ha ha ha. That is kind of funny. It does seem kind of a weird place to put a hole.
